This module looks at infection prevention and control and has been based on the Care Certificate Workbook Standard 15 Infection Prevention and Control which is aimed mainly at support workers. However anybody working in maternity services will find the content of interest. It will look at infection prevention and control and should be read in conjunction with Workbook Standard 15.

This module will enable you to:

• build on your knowledge of infection prevention and control
• understand the specific issues when caring for mothers and babies
• provide safe, effective care to mothers and babies; minimising the risk of transmission of infection

By the end of the module you will be able to:

• understand the principles of transmission of infection
• demonstrate your understanding of infection prevention and control within maternity settings
• assist parents to protect their babies from infection
• understand your role within the multidisciplinary team

This module contains four short videos (maximum time 4.5 minutes).
