This i-learn module looks at the importance of running an effective branch annual general meeting (AGM). Each branch must hold an annual general meeting for all members each year, usually in January, where the election of branch officers, workplace representatives and MSW advocates for the year ahead can take place.  The annual statement of receipts and payments and annual branch review also need to be signed off.

This module covers all these elements along with hints, tips and case sutdies to help you organise effective AGMs.

After studying this i-learn module on holding an effective AGM, you will gain an understanding of:

  • how an AGM should be publicised and the use of social media
  • democratically electing branch activists and passing motions
  • signing off necessary paper work
  • planning future branch activities for the year ahead, both learning and social events
