This course has been designed to increase your knowledge and competence in perineal care. It is aimed at newly qualified midwives but should be equally helpful to those new or nervous at suturing. Or if you've had a gap in using this skill. It includes strategies to help you to gain more experience in perineal trauma identification, repair and management. We have designed this course to work alongside PEARLS: the RCM perineal repair and suturing elearning course.

During this course you will cover:

  • How to address your feelings and concerns about becoming competent in perineal assessment and repair
  • The importance of woman-centred communication in obtaining consent and providing information about perineal trauma and suture care
  • The importance of effective communication with colleagues when asking for opportunities for experience, assistance and support as required
  • Other relevant perineal care resources to support your journey towards perineal management knowledge, competence and confidence
